WIESBADEN – Im Januar 2023 verbuchten die Beherbergungsbetriebe in Deutschland 24,0 Millionen Übernachtungen in- und ausländischer Gäste. Wie das Statistische Bundesamt (Destatis) nach vorläufigen Ergebnissen mitteilt, waren das 48,3 % mehr als im Januar 2022, als es teilweise noch coronabedingte Schließungen und Einschränkungen gab. Gegenüber Januar 2020, dem Vergleichsmonat vor der Corona-Pandemie, lagen die Übernachtungszahlen noch um 10,5 % niedriger.

Tourismus aus dem Ausland doppelt so hoch wie im Vorjahresmonat

Die Zahl der Übernachtungen von Gästen aus dem Inland stieg im Januar 2023 gegenüber dem Vorjahresmonat um 40,9 % auf 20,1 Millionen. Im Vergleich zum Januar 2020 waren das 7,5 % weniger Übernachtungen. Die Zahl der Übernachtungen von Gästen aus dem Ausland verdoppelte sich (+103,4 %) im Vergleich zum Vorjahresmonat auf 3,9 Millionen. Der grenzüberschreitende Tourismus in Deutschland lag aber immer noch 23,2 % unter dem Vorkrisenniveau von Januar 2020.

Alle Angaben beziehen sich auf Beherbergungsbetriebe (Hotels, Gasthöfe und Pensionen, Ferienunterkünfte und ähnliche Beherbergungsstätten, Campingplätze und sonstige tourismusrelevante Unterkünfte) mit mindestens zehn Schlafgelegenheiten beziehungsweise zehn Stellplätzen beim Camping.
