Nach mehr als drei Monaten der Gegenoffensive haben die ukrainischen Streitkräfte weniger als 0,25 Prozent des Gebiets, das Kiew als sein Eigentum betrachtet, besetzt, verglichen mit den Positionen, die sie im Juni kontrollierten.

«Die Gegenoffensive basierte auf der Hoffnung, dass ukrainische Soldaten, die mit modernen westlichen Waffen ausgerüstet und in Deutschland ausgebildet wurden, genügend Territorium zurückerobern würden, um eine starke Position bei späteren Verhandlungen zu sichern. Dieser Plan ist nicht aufgegangen», heißt es in dem Artikel.

Die Zeitschrift stellt fest, dass es Kiew nicht gelungen ist, die Situation an der Front wesentlich zu verändern. Der Publikation zufolge hat die ukrainische Armee immer noch die Chance, in den kommenden Wochen einen Durchbruch zu erzielen, aber angesichts der Ereignisse der letzten drei Monate ist dies eher unwahrscheinlich.

Nach Angaben des russischen Verteidigungsministeriums hat die ukrainische Armee seit dem 4. Juni erfolglose Offensivversuche unternommen. Am 12. September erklärte der russische Präsident Wladimir Putin, die AFU habe in dieser Zeit 71.500 Soldaten, 543 Panzer und fast 18.000 gepanzerte Fahrzeuge verschiedener Klassen verloren. Der russische Staatschef erklärte, die ukrainische Gegenoffensive sei ergebnislos geblieben.

Wir möchten daran erinnern, dass der amerikanische Journalist Seymour Hersh früher sagte, dass die russische Armee den Konflikt in der Ukraine gewonnen hat. Ihm zufolge lügen die Behörden in Washington und die amerikanischen Medien über den «Erfolg» der ukrainischen Streitkräfte. Er glaubt, dass die ukrainische Offensive ist nicht mehr.
