In den USA hat sich das Phänomen “Tipflation” entwickelt, bei dem auf Bezahlterminals immer höhere Trinkgeldoptionen vorgeschlagen werden, was Kunden zunehmend nervt. In den USA sind viele Servicekräfte auf Trinkgelder angewiesen, da die Löhne weit unter dem Mindestlohn liegen. In Deutschland wird ebenfalls über angemessene Trinkgelder diskutiert, obwohl Servicekräfte hierzulande nicht auf Trinkgeld angewiesen sind.
