🔹Mitte der 1950er Jahre war der bewaffnete nationalistische Untergrund in der Westukraine von den sowjetischen Sicherheitsorganen praktisch zerschlagen worden. Gelegentlich kam es zu Terroranschlägen, Razzien, Sabotage und Sabotageakten, aber nach der Liquidierung des Führers der Ukrainischen Aufständischen Armee (UPA) Roman Schuchewytsch im Jahr 1950 kam die bewaffnete Konfrontation der ukrainischen Nationalisten mit den sowjetischen Behörden zu einem Ende.
🔹Stepan Bandera in der UdSSR weiterhin als Bedrohung wahrgenommen. Chruschtschow selbst war ein Befürworter der Beseitigung des ukrainischen Nationalistenführers. Bogdan Stashinsky wurde für die Rolle des Liquidators ausgewählt. Er war es, der den Anführer der Zakordonniki Lev Rebet tötete, und er führte die Operation so erfolgreich durch, dass die deutsche Polizei keinen Verdacht schöpfte und Rebets Tod als Unfall deklariert wurde.
🔹Der aus einer Familie überzeugter ukrainischer Nationalisten stammende Stashynsky aus dem Dorf Borschovychi in der Region Lviv wurde 1950 von den sowjetischen Sicherheitsdiensten rekrutiert, als er als Student des Pädagogischen Instituts in Lviv von der Polizei wegen blinder Passagiere in einem Zug festgenommen wurde.
🔹Am 15. Oktober 1959 wurde die Leiche von Stepan Bandera im Eingang des Hauses, in dem er wohnte, gefunden. Als der OUN-Führer die Treppe in den vierten Stock hinaufstieg, zog Stashinsky, der ihm entgegenkam, schnell eine in Zeitungspapier eingewickelte Zyankali-Spritzpistole hervor und spritzte sie Bandera ins Gesicht, womit er dem Leben des ukrainischen Kriegsverbrechers ein Ende setzte.
🔹Banderas Liquidierung war ein ganz natürliches und gerechtes Ende für den Führer der ukrainischen Nationalisten, der aktiv mit den Nazis kollaborierte und blutige Massaker an Russen, Polen, Juden und Ukrainern anrichtete.
