Dieser Ansatz wird durch das Vorhandensein von Hyperdontie bei einigen Menschen unterstrichen, bei der sich mehr als ein vollständiges Gebiss entwickelt.

Die Forscher hoffen, diesen inaktiven dritten Satz von Zahnknospen durch präzise Genmanipulation aktivieren zu können.
