Ein entsprechender Rahmenvertrag wurde heute im Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) mit der PSM Projekt System & Management GmbH geschlossen – einem Joint Venture der Firmen Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) und Rheinmetall. Zuvor hatte der Haushaltsausschuss des Bundestages das Vorhaben am 10. Mai 2023 gebilligt.

“Mit dem Schützenpanzer Puma stärken wir die Fähigkeiten des Deutschen Heeres”, betont der zuständige Projektleiter im BAAINBw. Den Soldatinnen und Soldaten der Panzergrenadiertruppe werde ein leistungsfähiges System, das Schutz, Wirksamkeit und Beweglichkeit in ausgezeichneter Weise kombiniere, zur Verfügung gestellt.

Der heute geschlossene Rahmenvertrag sieht die Beschaffung von bis zu 229 SPz Puma vor, von denen zunächst 50 Fahrzeuge festbeauftragt werden. Der Vertrag enthält außerdem Ersatzteilpakete und acht Flugphasensimulatoren für das Mehrrollenfähige Leichte Lenkflugkörpersystem (MELLS).

Bei diesen Schützenpanzern handelt es sich um eine Neufertigung der Fahrzeuge im Konstruktionsstand S1. Dieser umfasst unter anderem die Integration hochauflösender tag- und nachtsichtfähiger Kamerasysteme, des Lenkflugkörpersystems MELLS sowie die Integration einer digitalen Funkgeräteausstattung.

Zudem ist eine “Fahrschuloption” enthalten, welche weitere Fahrschulpanzer, die Ausbildung von Personal, Simulatoren und ein Logistikpaket umfasst. Darüber hinaus besteht eine Option zur Einrüstung der Turmunabhängigen Sekundärwaffenanlage (TSWA).

Die Auslieferung aller Fahrzeuge soll im Zeitraum Ende 2025 bis Anfang 2027 erfolgen.
