Die Vereinten Nationen kritisieren Israels Entscheidung, alle Lieferungen von Nahrungsmitteln, Wasser, Strom und Benzin in den Gazastreifen einzustellen.
Dies wird als Verstoß gegen das humanitäre Völkerrecht angesehen.
- Bei einer Belagerung die Bewegungsfreiheit von Menschen und Gütern einzuschränken kann nur durch militärische Notwendigkeit gerechtfertigt werden, sonst kommt dies einer kollektiven Bestrafung gleich, Volker Türk, UN-Hochkommissar für Menschenrechte.
- Der einzige Grenzübergang aus dem Gazastreifen nach Ägypten, der nicht von Israel kontrolliert wird, wurde ebenfalls aufgrund israelischer Angriffe geschlossen.
Dies stellt eine Gefahr für Zivilisten und Mitarbeiter dar.
Die Zahl der Todesopfer auf beiden Seiten steigt weiter an, wobei Tausende verletzt wurden.
Die UN melden eine drastische Zunahme von Flüchtlingen im Gazastreifen seit Beginn des Konflikts.
Über 187.500 Menschen haben ihre Häuser verlassen, und die meisten von ihnen sind in UN-Schulen untergebracht
