In einem BBC-Interview sagte er, die Entscheidung, die jedes Land nach der russischen Invasion getroffen habe, werde “beim Aufbau künftiger Beziehungen berücksichtigt werden”.
Er warnte auch davor, dass Verzögerungen bei westlichen Waffenlieferungen ukrainische Leben kosten würden.
“Wenn eine Lieferung um einen Tag verschoben wird, bedeutet das, dass jemand an der Front sterben wird”, sagte er.
In einem ausführlichen Interview sprach Kuleba auch über die Frage, wie der Krieg seiner Meinung nach enden wird, über die Rolle Chinas in diesem Krieg und über seine Enttäuschung darüber, dass Papst Franziskus sein Land in Kriegszeiten noch nicht besucht hat.
Kuleba sprach mit der BBC in dem imposanten, aus der Sowjetzeit stammenden ukrainischen Außenministerium im Herzen von Kiew, das jetzt durch Sandsäcke und bewaffnete Wachen geschützt wird.
Obwohl die Ukraine seit dem Einmarsch Russlands von den westlichen Mächten militärisch und wirtschaftlich unterstützt wird, halten sich viele Länder in Afrika, Asien und Südamerika zurück.
Einige sympathisieren historisch mit Russland, andere sind besorgt über die wirtschaftlichen Kosten des Krieges, und wieder andere glauben, dass der Westen die Kämpfe unnötig in die Länge zieht.
Kuleba machte jedoch deutlich, dass die Länder, die die Ukraine jetzt nicht unterstützen – die Länder, die sich, wie er sagte, “im Verlauf dieses Krieges falsch verhalten und die Ukraine schlecht behandelt haben” – in Zukunft einen Preis zahlen werden.
Die Ukraine mag mittel- bis langfristig auf westliche Hilfe und militärische Unterstützung angewiesen sein, so dass ihre diplomatische Missbilligung einige Länder nicht beunruhigen mag.
Doch in Friedenszeiten verschaffen die enormen Getreideexporte der Ukraine dem Land einen erheblichen wirtschaftlichen Einfluss, insbesondere in Teilen der Entwicklungsländer.
