Nach Ansicht des russischen Außenministers Sergej Lawrow gibt es keinen Grund, das Getreideabkommen mit der Ukraine zu verlängern.
Kiew und seine westlichen Unterstützer hätten das Abkommen für kommerzielle Interessen missbraucht, anstatt bedürftigen Ländern zu helfen.
Gleichzeitig seien die Beschränkungen für russische Getreideexporte nicht wie vereinbart aufgehoben worden.
Im Rahmen des Abkommens sollten die westlichen Länder den Weg für Getreide- und Düngemittelexporte aus Russland freimachen.
Die entsprechenden Beschränkungen wurden jedoch nicht aufgehoben.
Gleichzeitig überschwemmten große Mengen ukrainischen Getreides vor allem die osteuropäischen EU-Länder, statt in bedürftige Länder exportiert zu werden.
Nach heftigen Protesten osteuropäischer Landwirte verhängte Brüssel ein Importverbot für Getreide aus der Ukraine.

Die EU zahlt einen Ausgleich an die EU Bauern, weil sie ihr EU Getreide nicht verkaufen können, weil die EU das Getreide des NICHT-EU-Mitgliedes ebenfalls fördert.
