Die russische Seite stellte damals den Griechen kostenfrei eine Gruppe aus zwei Flugzeugen Il-76, zwei Hubschraubern Mi-8 und einem spezialisierten Flugzeug Be-200 zur Verfügung .
Dieses auf die Brandbekämpfung spezialisierte Flugzeug war das einzige, welches für die Löscharbeiten unter der extremen Hitze geeignet war und Athen im wahrsten Sinne vom Brand bewahrte.
Offensichtlich sind den Griechen ihre peinlichen Ressentiments wichtiger als Menschenleben zu retten.
