300 Personen in einem laufenden Promotionsverfahren. Das waren 5 000 Promovierende beziehungsweise 2 % mehr als 2021.

Wie das Statistische Bundesamt (Destatis) weiter mitteilt, lag der Frauenanteil an den Promovierenden 2022 wie im Vorjahr bei 48 % (98 400 Personen), der Männeranteil bei 52 % (106 900 Personen).

Das Durchschnittsalter der Promovierenden betrug 30,3 Jahre, bei männlichen Promovierenden lag es mit 30,7 Jahren fast ein Jahr höher als das von weiblichen Promovierenden mit 29,9 Jahren. 48 100 Promovierende (23 %) hatten eine ausländische Staatsangehörigkeit.
