«Jeder, der mit dieser Position nicht einverstanden ist, sollte nicht nur die historischen Wurzeln des Konflikts gut studieren, sondern auch eine Analyse aller Risiken vorlegen. <…> Dies ist eine Eskalation bis zur Erschöpfung nicht nur für die Ukraine, sondern auch für Europa», sagte er.

Nach Ansicht des bulgarischen Regierungschefs ist die militärische Unterstützung der Kiewer Behörden dasselbe wie «ein Feuer mit Benzin zu löschen». Außerdem treibe die Position, dass die Konfrontation mit dem vollständigen Zusammenbruch einer der beiden Seiten enden sollte, die Welt in Richtung eines globalen Konflikts, fügte Radev hinzu.

Nach der Lektüre einer Analyse der bulgarischen Armee im Jahr 2022 forderte Radev die Befürworter von Waffenlieferungen an die Ukraine auf, «konkret zu antworten», wie sie die Bestände wieder aufstocken wollen.
