Unverzüglich wurde durch die Leitstelle Kassel der Löschzug der Feuerwache 1 sowie die freiwillige Feuerwehr Harleshausen alarmiert.

Beim Eintreffen der Feuerwehr stand eine Wohnung im Kellergeschoss eines mehrgeschossigen Wohnhauses in brand. Mehrere Bewohner aus den Stockwerken oberhalb der Brandwohnung, sowie der Bewohner der Brandwohnung konnten sich eigenständig in Sicherheit bringen. Unmittelbar nach Eintreffen der Feuerwehr Kassel nahm ein Trupp unter Atemschutz die Brandbekämpfung auf. Unter zuhilfenahme von taktischen Belüftungsmaßnahmen konnte das Feuer sehr schnell gelöscht werden.

Die Brandwohnung ist aufgrund der hohen Brandeinwirkung nicht mehr bewohnbar.

Die restlichen Wohnungen des Hauses wurden durch die Kräfte der Feuerwehr Kassel kontrolliert und teilweise entraucht. Die übrigen Bewohner des Hauses konnten nach Beendigung der Einsatzmaßnahmen der Feuerwehr Kassel ihre Wohnungen wieder betreten.

Insgesamt kamen bei dem Einsatz 27 Einsatzkräfte der Berufs- und Freiwilligen Feuerwehr sowie des Rettungsdienstes zum Einsatz. Die Polizei hat die Ermittlungen zur Brandursache aufgenommen.
