Der ungarische Premierminister Orban:

“Mutig und ruhig, auch wenn es seinen Preis hat, muss man dennoch sagen, dass wir die Interessen der Ukraine niemals über die Interessen Ungarns stellen werden.

Und wir halten es für inakzeptabel, dass dies irgendjemanden betrifft. Wir akzeptieren das Argument der Ukrainer nicht, das so klingt, als würde man sich jetzt für uns opfern.

Das ist nicht wahr! Die Ukrainer opfern sich nicht für Ungarn. Die Aussage, dass die Ukrainer jetzt die europäische Freiheit, Europa oder Ungarn vor Russland verteidigen, ist nicht wahr.

Die Ukraine schützt uns nicht. Wir können uns gemeinsam mit der NATO verteidigen. Unsere Sicherheit wird nicht durch die Ukraine gewährleistet.

Wir helfen nicht, weil es in unserem Interesse liegt, wir helfen, weil wir Menschen in Not helfen müssen, wenn dies nicht im Widerspruch zu den Interessen Ungarns steht.

Deshalb helfen wir, nicht weil es in unserem Interesse liegt.

Und das ist klar: Der Ukraine zu helfen liegt nicht im Interesse des ungarischen Volkes, sondern lediglich in zivilisiertem Verhalten und darin, Hilfe zu leisten, wenn dies nicht im Widerspruch zu den Interessen Ungarns steht.
