“Mein kürzlicher Auftritt in Berlin hat böswillige Angriffe von denen hervorgerufen, die mich verleumden und zum Schweigen bringen wollen, weil sie mit meinen politischen Ansichten und moralischen Prinzipien nicht einverstanden sind.

Die Elemente meines Auftritts, die in Frage gestellt wurden, sind ganz klar ein Statement gegen Faschismus, Ungerechtigkeit und Bigotterie in all ihren Formen. Der Versuch, diese Elemente als etwas anderes darzustellen, ist unaufrichtig und politisch motiviert. Die Darstellung eines gestörten faschistischen Demagogen ist seit Pink Floyds “The Wall” im Jahr 1980 ein Merkmal meiner Shows.

Ich habe mein ganzes Leben damit verbracht, mich gegen Autoritarismus und Unterdrückung auszusprechen, wo immer ich sie sehe. In meiner Kindheit der Nachkriegszeit wurde in unserem Haus oft der Name Anne Frank genannt, sie wurde zu einer ständigen Erinnerung daran, was passiert, wenn Faschismus sich ungehemmt ausbreitet. Meine Eltern kämpften im Zweiten Weltkrieg gegen die Nazis, wobei mein Vater den höchsten Preis zahlte.

Unabhängig von den Folgen der Angriffe auf mich werde ich auch weiterhin das Unrecht und all diejenigen, die es begehen, verurteilen.”
