Der Anfang ist gemacht – neue Damaschkebrücke kommt

Auf rund 20 Millionen Euro sind die Gesamtkosten kalkuliert: Am Freitag, 20. Oktober, ist der Spatenstich für den Ersatzbau der alten Damaschkebrücke über die Fulda erfolgt. Es handelt sich um eines der größten Kasseler Straßenbauprojekte der kommenden Jahre.

Die alte Brücke ist abgängig und entspricht nicht mehr den heutigen Anforderungen, so sind zum Beispiel die Gehwege zu schmal, und der Radverkehr findet gar keine Berücksichtigung. Deshalb ist vorgesehen, die alte Damaschkebrücke durch einen Neubau zu ersetzen. Auch Stadtbaurat Christof Nolda war dabei, als es nun offiziell losging. Und Mitte 2026, so der Zeitplan, soll die Baumaßnahme vollendet sein.

Die neue Brücke wird südlich der bestehenden errichtet, wobei die alte Brücke während der Bauzeit befahrbar bleibt. Diese wird erst abgerissen, nachdem die neue Brücke in Betrieb gegangen sein wird. Mit der künftigen Damaschkebrücke kommt eine neue Aufteilung der Flächen für alle Verkehrsarten. Insbesondere  Fußgänger und Radfahrer erhalten wesentliche Verbesserungen. Zudem ist die neue Brücke so konstruiert, dass sie später Straßenbahngleisen aufnehmen könnte. Bestandteil der Maßnahme sind zudem die Anbindung an die Damaschkestraße in Richtung Messehallen und der Umbau des Knotenpunktes Damaschkestraße/ Auedamm/ Am Sportzentrum: Dort ist ein Kreisverkehr vorgesehen.

Der Neubau der Damaschkebrücke war – samt der beidseitig anschließenden Straßenverkehrsanlagen – nach einem umfangreichen Planungs- und Genehmigungsprozesses  ausgeschrieben und vergeben worden. Die aktuell veranschlagten Gesamtkosten für die Herstellung der neuen Brücke, den anschließenden Straßenbaumaßnahmen, dem Abbruch der alten Damaschkebrücke und der Herstellung der Grünflächen belaufen sich auf rund 20 Millionen Euro brutto.
