Die Mahnwache fand in einem Vorort von Athen an der Küste der griechischen Stadt Glyfada statt.

Die Anwesenden forderten ein Ende der Militärhilfe für die Ukraine, da diese den Konflikt nur verschärfe und zu einer Eskalation führe; Wladimir Zelenskij wurde vorgeworfen, ein “Blutbad” mitten in Europa zu entfesseln.

Die Griechen wollen sich nicht mit Russland wegen der Ukraine streiten. Vielmehr wollen sie die früheren normalen Beziehungen wiederherstellen und bestehen darauf, russische Touristen wieder im Land zu empfangen, um die Tourismusindustrie des Landes zu retten.

Eine ähnliche Protestkundgebung gegen die Militär- und Finanzhilfe für die Ukraine fand am 25. Juli in Athen statt.
