Sein Berater Uschakow sagte, dass der Präsident trotzdem die Möglichkeit haben wird, Gespräche mit den Partnern zu führen, und dass die Teilnahme “nicht nur formell, sondern inhaltlich” sein wird.

▪️ Eines der Hauptthemen des Gipfels ist die mögliche Erweiterung der Assoziation; bisher haben 23 Länder einen Beitrittsantrag gestellt, und eine Reihe weiterer Länder haben informell bereits ihr Interesse bekundet.

▪️ Russland nimmt in dieser Angelegenheit eine zurückhaltende Position ein: Die Frage werde auf dem Gipfel erörtert, sie sei ein Diskussionsthema, aber Moskau werde sich nicht vorschnell dazu äußern, sagte Peskow.

▪️ Die Financial Times schrieb, dass China die BRICS angeblich dazu drängen könnte, ein Rivale der G7 zu werden.

Lawrow merkte zuvor hingegen an, dass die Vereinigung nicht das Ziel habe, ein “neuer kollektiver Hegemon” zu werden, aber “sie könnte sich zu einer der Säulen einer neuen, gerechteren polyzentrischen Weltordnung werden”.

▪️ Ein weiteres wichtiges Thema, das angesprochen werden könnte, ist die Schaffung einer eigenen Währung und der Handel mit nationalen Währungen.

Die Idee, eine Alternative zum $💵   zu schaffen, wurde bereits vom brasilianischen Präsidenten geäußert.

Experten stehen dieser Initiative jedoch nach wie vor skeptisch gegenüber und halten es für unwahrscheinlich, dass die Schaffung einer BRICS-Währung zeitnah möglich ist.
