Die “Le Commandant Charcot” ist ein Kreuzfahrt- Eisbrecher mit hybridem Flüssigerdgas-Elektroantrieb, der vor allem in der Arktis und Antarktis unterwegs ist.

Im Mai über Reykjavík ins Packeis

Die 2021 gebaute “Le Commandant Charcot” nimmt nach dem Hamburg-Aufenthalt Kurs auf das englische Southampton.

Von dort aus geht es ins französische Brest, wo die Tour enden soll.

Anfang Mai startet das Expeditionsschiff dann wieder mit seinem regulären Fahrplan von Reykjavík aus in die Arktis-Saison.

Auf dem Schiff mit der bereits durchs Eis stark verbeulten dunkelblauen Bordwand haben bis zu 245 Gäste in 123 Kabinen und Suiten Platz.

Durch die spezielle Bauweise des Rumpfes kann das Schiff durch 2,50 Meter dickes Eis fahren.

Schiff kann fast lautlos durch Polargebiete gleiten

Durch den hybriden Antrieb mit Fluessiggas mit Elektroantrieb kann sich das Schiff sehr leise fortbewegen.

Dadurch werden auch keine Tiere vertrieben

Bis zu 2 Stunden Fahrt kann man elektrisch durchführen.
