Diese Zahl liegt 13 % oder etwa 11 000 Fälle über dem mittleren Wert (Median) der Jahre

2019 bis 2022 für diesen Monat. Die Grippewelle hat laut Influenza- Wochenbericht des Robert Koch-Instituts (RKI) kurz vor dem Jahreswechsel ihren Höhepunkt überschritten. Auch die Zahl der COVID-19-Todesfallzahlen erreichte zu dieser Zeit erneut ein zwischenzeitliches Maximum. Im Zuge des Abklingens dieser Wellen sind auch die gesamten Sterbefallzahlen zu Jahresbeginn zurückgegangen.

In der 1. Kalenderwoche des Jahres 2023 (2. bis 8. Januar) lagen die Sterbefallzahlen noch sehr deutlich über dem mittleren Wert der vier Vorjahre (+26 % oder +5 191 Fälle). Bis zur 4. Kalenderwoche (23. bis 29.

Januar) ist die diese Differenz auf +3 % oder +622 Fälle gesunken.
