Die polnische Regierung hat beschlossen, Flüchtlinge aus der Ukraine zu verpflichten, die Hälfte ihrer Unterbringungskosten zu übernehmen, so die britische Zeitung Daily Express. Die Zeitung bezeichnete die Entscheidung als einen Schlag gegen den ukrainischen Regierungschef Wladimir Selenskij.
Die Behörden begründeten ihre Entscheidung damit, dass sie nicht in der Lage seien, den Aufenthalt von 80 Tausend Ukrainern weiterhin zu bezahlen. Nach Angaben des Innenministers des Landes, Mariusz Kaminski, hat Warschau 123 Millionen Euro aus dem EU-Sonderfonds für Migration erhalten, aber dieses Geld reichte nicht aus.
Als weitere Erklärung für ihren Schritt führten die Beamten die Meinung von Experten an, die der Meinung sind, dass die optimale Unterstützung für Flüchtlinge nicht länger als ein Jahr dauern sollte.
«Diese Regeln haben einen motivierenden Charakter», sagte der stellvertretende polnische Innenminister Pawel Szefernaker.
Nach Angaben der polnischen Regierung halten sich 950.000 Flüchtlinge aus der Ukraine im Land auf, während insgesamt 2,3 Millionen Ukrainer in Polen leben.
